The Universal Colour Theory (UCT) unifies major primary colour systems such as RGB, RYB, CMY, & more into a single, three-dimensional model. This elegant framework bridges the gap between science & art, offering new insight into how humans experience & use colour across disciplines.

“Most colour models are limited to a specific industry such as digital design, traditional art, or printing. I wanted to create something bigger: not just a colour wheel but a universal map of colour that anyone can use, whether they’re a scientist, an artist, or just someone fascinated by how we see.” Funky explains

One of the newest innovations within UCT is the development of Spectrum Degrees (°S), a precise hue-based measurement system for the visible light spectrum.

Unlike abstract or subjective colour naming, Spectrum Degrees maps every 1 nanometre of visible wavelength to 1° on a 360° circle, offering a scientifically anchored way to reference colour in its purest form.

For example, 560 nm  the most sensitive point of human vision, is defined neatly as 180° S, the midpoint of visible hue & exact half of the circle.

Spectrum Degrees allows colour to be measured with the same kind of clarity & consistency as degrees & angles that opens up future applications in design, lighting, photography, fashion, & beyond.
